It’s easy to run out of ideas for group warm-ups and exercise circuits for kids.
Not anymore!
With some simple exercises and some creativity you can create hundreds of fun and effective ways to help kids improve body awareness, coordination and fitness while they get ready to move!
How does it work?
- Take any fundamental movement skill involved with stationary movement control (calisthenics) or locomotion. For example, use a push up or skip.
- Apply 2 (or more) variables for:
- Effort (force, speed, and flow)
- Space (levels, directions and pathways, ranges)
- Relationships (objects, body parts, people)
- Allow the kids to explore how to combine the fundamental movement with the added challenge of the variables.
For example…
1. Continue for 10 to 20 seconds, and then move on to another combination.
2. Repeat with 5 to 10 exercises for a simple, fast, and fun warm up that helps children develop body awareness in addition to other essential skills!
